_______________________________________________________________________ We are recruiting people for some research for a new type of loan provider who wants to understand what potential customers think about their product and understand people’s experiences of other loan and credit products so that they can ensure they are developing a new product that people will find useful. Looking for people – males and females aged 18 to 40 – who find staying within budget challenging and are therefore using unauthorised overdrafts and possibly other loan or credit products. They use unauthorized overdrafts because either their bank will not give them an arranged overdraft… and they regularly incur extra charges because they spend more than they have in their account. Or they have an arranged overdraft (i.e. are allowed to go overdrawn up to an agreed limit) but regularly go over this limit and incur extra charges in addition to the usual overdraft charges. The research will take the form of; 4 x face-to-face interviews – up to 1.5 hours, ideally in the respondent’s home, or at convenient quiet location for respondent – by arrangement on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th February (must live in Islington / Camden to take part in this ) 2 x 2 hour focus groups of 8 respondents on Wednesday 6th and Monday 11th March (people can live anywhere) Group 1: ‘Medium’ unauthorised overdraft users – Wednesday 6th March – 6.15pm Prior to the interview or group respondents will be asked to complete a homework task, which involves sending a short video of no more than 2 minutes via WhatsApp where they will be answering a few questions about overdrafts and loans. Each participant will be given £40 (for the Interview) or £50 (for the group) in cash on the day of the research, as a thank you for their participation. £10 of this will depend on completion of a short homework exercise prior to the research interview or group.
