We are currently conducting research with people planning to renovate their homes, on behalf of a Government Agency. We would like to speak to people who are currently at the ‘planning stage’. Home improvement/renovation can include: New build – including extensions, loft conversions, conservatories, building new structures on the land (e.g. ‘granny flat’, garage), new porch Refurbishment – including new bathrooms and kitchens, renovations, garden make over, new boiler or central heating, new double glazing/windows Repair and maintenance – including normal or emergency work (including electrical and plumbing work, roof repair, and significant painting and decorating) We are looking for domestic consumers who will be starting to carry out home improvement work on their property in the next 18 months, but for whom the work itself has not yet begun. The project planned must be estimated to cost at least £10,000 to ensure it represents a significant investment. We can include those who are procuring construction businesses/workers, but exclude those who plan to carry out the improvement work themselves. The work must be for a domestic residence rather than a landlord carrying out work on their rental properties or a consumer carrying out work on their commercial property (e.g. a business the participant owns such as a café or shop). The research will be in the form of a two 90 minute discussion groups. These will take place on Tuesday 24 September, at a venue in the London Bridge area. Group 1: Experienced (second or subsequent project) – 6:00pm Looking to recruit 8 people – males and females aged 18+ – to take part in this study.
